Minister Ploumen hoofdspreker klimaatconferentie 3-4
De Minister van Buitenlandse Handel en Ontwikkelingssamenwerking, Lilianne Ploumen, heeft toegezegd om aanwezig te zijn als hoofdspreker op de zesde Conferentie over Klimaat en Ontwikkelingslanden op 3 april.
Op woensdag 3 april 2013 organiseert HIER samen met NCDO, SNV, Fair Climate Fund en Partners for Resilience de 6de Conferentie over Klimaat en Ontwikkelingslanden. Naast de minister zullen Annemieke Nijhof (lid van het United Nations Adaptation Committee) en dr. Jan Verhagen (lid van de Least Developed Countries Expert Group) aanwezig zijn om in het hoofdprogramma de mondiale stand van zaken op het gebied van klimaatadaptatie en de rol van Nederland hierin te belichten.
Verder is het belang van zuinige kooktoestellen in ontwikkelingslanden voor mitigatie en adaptatie en de mogelijkheden om hier vanuit Nederland aan bij te dragen een centraal thema in de conferentie. Jennifer Tweddell van de Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is gevraagd om vanuit een internationaal perspectief over dit onderwerp te spreken. In twee workshoprondes zullen bovendien verschillende thema’s die momenteel spelen op het gebied van klimaat en ontwikkelingslanden aan bod komen.

The HIER Climate Bureau in collaboration with NCDO, SNV, Fair Climate Fund and Partners for Resilience is organizing the 6th Conference on Climate and Developing Countries.
At this conference, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen will be present as the keynote speaker. The global state of affairs on climate change adaptation and the role of the Netherlands in this matter will be discussed with Annemieke Nijhof (member of the United Nations Adaptation Committee) and dr. Jan Verhagen (member of the Least Developed Countries Expert Group), two experts in this field. Also, the importance of clean cookstoves for mitigation and adaptation will be a central theme of the conference. Jennifer Twedell has been asked to talk about these issues based on her experiences as a member of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves. Furthermore, two rounds of workshops will be held to highlight six contemporary topics in the field of climate and developing countries.
