Above all the place where busloads of Japanese and other non-European tourists strike down for a couple of minutes in an attempt to experience Copenhagen ‘while doing Europe’. Because no matter personal preferences, the little mermaid is undeniably the most distinctive image of Copenhagen. Illustrative photos incorporate the harbour opposite the water, with its horizon of smoke billowing industry and offshore wind parks, Denmark’s speciality. A bit further, rather strangely unnoticed, stands ‘the new mermaid’. Considerably bigger and considerably more lascivious. Hence also worth a picture.
